Issues of The Heart: Wholeness In Christ
There are many issues that our hearts come across throughout our lifetime. Issues that can possibly reside for years if the issues are not dealt with properly. And I find that when we recognise a void in our hearts many of us try to find wholeness in other things, whether it’s a relationship status or something more materialistic. Instead of running straight to our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
The void that you feel in your heart is not an indication that you need to be in a relationship or seek temporary materialistic things. It is an indication for you to reach out and pursue Christ with unwavering faith in the knowledge that your wholeness, healing and validation is secure only in Him.
The Woman With The Issue of Blood – Luke 8
In Luke 8 we see a woman who was suffering with an issue of blood for an extensive amount of time. The bible says it was for 12 years that she was facing this problem. It also mentions that she had spent all her livelihood in order to be healed from her sickness. However she was unable to be healed, and according to Mark 5:26, the things that she had turned to had actually made her become worse!
What Are The Issues of Your Heart? What are you turning to for healing?
Like the woman with the issue of blood, some of us may not have a physical sickness but instead we may be facing an emotional and spiritual issue that surrounds the heart which we have not yet dealt with yet. It could be months you’ve been battling with this, or even years like the lady in this story. However no matter how long you have experienced the suffering, pain or brokenness.. there is nothing too hard or too deep for the Lord to heal and restore.
Just like the woman with the issue of blood, you may feel concerned or fed up as to why you haven’t had your breakthrough of healing and wholeness yet. You may be completely tired of feeling the emptiness and hurt within you. And if that is you wondering that, then it’s best to come to an understanding that whatever you have been pursuing or doing currently to find that wholeness.. doesn’t work and it’s time to change the route. So I challenge you to ask yourself.. Have you truly been seeking healing in temporary things in order for you to feel better again?
It’s okay to be honest with yourself. And it’s okay to get things wrong sometimes because that’s how we learn and move forward. I will also tell you that I have been in the same position and there is actually freedom and a giant step you’ve taken forward once you start acknowledging where you’ve gone wrong and what you can do to set right.
We live in a world where some people can be obsessed with materialistic things, temporary things and especially romantic relationships. The world bases happiness on things and people, through which it’s understandable why some people out of ignorance would chase temporary things to aim to fill the void within them. However when you come to understand that joy, wholeness and freedom is found in the eternal everlasting God alone, you begin to pursue Him and feel the transformation within you as you become open to His fullness and love.
The issues of the heart are no longer standing firmly present in your life, because you come to an understanding that the blood of Jesus has redeemed you. Because of Christ we now have the ability to be free, whole and restored in Him because we also have the opportunity to have a relationship with God.
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
In Mark 5:28, the woman with the issue of blood said “if only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
This is a part I truly admire about this lady, because even though she was sick with problems that have kept her bound for years, she still arose above her circumstances and pursued Christ and reached out to Him. No matter how difficult it was, she still pressed on and eventually became healed!
And as you read the story for yourself, you will see that multitudes of people surrounded and followed Jesus! I can’t imagine how huge the crowds must have been! Through which it came to my mind that it must of been so hard for her to push through to get to the Lord, but she didn’t give up. Therefore I encourage you, remain persistent!! Keep on pressing, keep on pushing forward and reach out to Him. He admires faith.
Luke 8:49 – “Daughter be of good cheer, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
The issues of the heart can always be restored, not by your own strength but by the Spirit of God. He will strengthen you and uphold you, for when you are weak He is strong. Hold on dear one, don’t give up on God because He will never give up on you.
