Do you have the Ruth anointing?
The book of Ruth has to be one of my most favourite books in the Bible! It amazes me how beautifully God can transform one’s story from grief and heartbreak to restoration and new beginnings! If you haven’t read the book of Ruth before, I would encourage you to do so! It’s a wonderful story of faith and the Lord’s goodness.
As one of the most inspirational women in the Bible, I am going to go through the anointing and characteristics of Ruth. I believe many of us can learn from her story and apply it to our own lives as we continue to pursue righteousness and live fruitfully!
The Ruth Anointing: Faithfulness
If you’ve read the book of Ruth you would know that her husband, along with her brother and father in law had passed away. Through which after the unfortunate events that took place within the family, her mother in law (Naomi) urged Ruth and Orpah (Ruth’s sister in law) to go back to their homes to move on and find another husband.
Ruth 1:8 – “Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.”
Orpah eventually decided to listen to Naomi and head back home to her mother. However Ruth wasn’t influenced by the decision that her sister in law had made. Instead she went forward with what she felt was right and remained faithful to Naomi.
Ruth 1:16 – But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”
Sometimes it can be so easy for people to go ahead and be influenced by what others around them are doing, or even just looking out for the interest of themselves. Ruth could have easily made the decision to turn away and start a new life with another husband. However she remained true to her mother in law and followed what her heart felt was right.
How are you walking in faithfulness and who are you faithful to? Are you faithful to the Lord, your friends and family? Ruth is a great inspiration to remain faithful even in times of trial and uncertainty.
The Ruth Anointing: Bravery and Faith
I find Ruth’s bravery and faith to be absolutely amazing throughout her story. She had just become a widow and experienced a huge loss in her family. However within her season of grieving, she still stood in faith to actually step forward from a familiar place into the unknown. Ruth was a moabite and Naomi was preparing to go back to the land of Bethlehem. A place that Ruth was foreign to and unfamiliar with. However her faith was so strong that she still decided to be with Naomi and step into a new place within her life. I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been but it amazes me how wonderful our unwavering faith can position us into a place that is about to bring us further into our destiny.
Have you ever found yourself in a position where you’re in transition into an unfamiliar place? It takes faith to truly cling on to God with a brave heart. If you’re in that place at the moment, I encourage you to hold on and meditate on the Lord’s promise to you. That He will never leave nor forsake you, He is a shield to those that trust in Him and He will not allow the righteous to be moved. He knows the situations you face and is intentional within every moment of your life. Keep the courage!
Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
The Ruth Anointing: Hard Work and Loyalty
Ruth was certainly a hardworking woman. When she and Naomi moved to Bethlehem, she began gleaning in fields to provide for their household. Throughout chapter 2 the story reveals the hard work and persistence of Ruth. She arose early in the morning to work for long periods of time to ensure that she had a productive days worth of work. What I love about Ruth is her loyalty and thoughtfulness towards Naomi, that she even saved some food left over from Boaz’s field to give to Naomi!
Would you say that you’re a hard worker? Or have you begun and remained persistent with the work God has placed in your heart? Whatever the Lord leads you to do whether its working at a job, a business, a ministry or anything else.. work to the best of your ability as an act of worship unto the Lord!
Whenever and wherever you can as I mentioned before, aim to look out for the interest of others and give with a cheerful heart!
There can be so many lovely and inspirational things to mention regarding the beauty of Ruth and her story. However these particular things mainly stood out to me, which I truly believe we can all learn from and apply to our own lives. God is so faithful and He blessed Ruth immensely!
