The Proverbs 31 Woman is one of the most talked about ladies within the Bible.
She’s the virtuous wife that many Christians look up to, as a great example of what a godly wife should resemble.
I absolutely adore the proverbs 31 woman, she’s wonderful, caring and so fabulous. Here are a few points that I have recognised about this lovely lady and what we as women can also strive towards also.
– She is trustworthy
(Verse 11: The heart of her husband safely trusts her)
This lady is very trustworthy, the NIV version says that her husband has ‘full confidence’ in her. As women who are wives, mothers, daughters and friends.. we must aim to be the best, genuine person we could be for our loved ones. That they feel confident and comfortable enough to come to us in times of need, or even just in general. As believers of Christ, our aim is to be like Him. Therefore we must show and reassure our loved ones of our love, maturity and authenticity towards them. As Christ did.
– She does good and serves well
(Verse 12: She does him good and not evil. All the days of her life)
As we ask God to continually purify our hearts with His Spirit and Word, we will grow to become fruitful. One of the fruits of the Spirit is goodness. As we grow in the Lord, the fruit of goodness will manifest itself within us.
By being good, we aim to to comfort and care for others. Doing good deeds for them and speaking positively in conversations. Surrounding someone with goodness can make anyones day!
– She willingly works
(Verse 13: She seeks wool and flax. And willingly works with her hands)
There’s a difference between working, and willingly working. She works without complaining, without grumbling and moaning. She actively works with her hands in order to get the job done. However, some people may just do some work, without pouring their efforts and passion into what they are doing.
She seeks work, and actively uses her hands. Willingly.
Whatever your job or dream is, do it all for the glory of God. Work is also an act of worship, see it from a different perspective!
If you are however, unhappy with the current job that you’re in.. I would consider getting into work that you thoroughly enjoy. What is your purpose, what are your gifts?
Pray to the Lord and ask Him for guidance and leadership on where you need to go.
– She works and serves during the night
(Verse 15: She also rises while it is still night, and provides food for her household)
This lady is not only passionate about what she does, but she is eager to get the job done in order to provide food for her household. She is hardworking, as we should be too.
God created us to work and be purposeful. Not to be stagnant. Be a hard worker in whatever goals that you wish to achieve.
– She uses her money wisely
(Verse 16: She considers a field and buys it. With her profits, she plants a vineyard)
This lady does not splash out her money on unnecessary food, clothes and makeup all the time. She invests back into it. She purchased a property and used that to her advantage.
Think about how you can start to use money wisely.
And how you can find ways to increase your income streams.
– She is strong
(Verse 17: She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms)
I’m pretty sure not every moment in her life was easy. Of course there would be weary times that were physically, emotionally and spiritually draining. But instead of feeling defeated, she strengthened herself. I’m sure she relied on the Spirit of God to help her to do so. We can’t go through this life with our own strength, but only the grace of God carries us through. He is our strength and portion forever.
– She believes in her brand/business
(Verse 18: She perceives that her merchandise is good)
A business cannot prosper unless the founder themselves, believe in the vision. God plants passions into our hearts, and this lady is so passionate about all that she does.
Whether you have a brand, a ministry, at uni or college.. be passionate about what you’re doing. Believe in the greatness of what you do and the gifts that God has placed within you.
-She helps the poor and needy
(Verse 20: She extends her hand to the poor, she reaches out her hands to the needy)
Not only is she a blessing to her family, but a blessing to those around her. She is considerate of those who are less fortunate and she reaches out her hand to help them.
Think about what charitable deeds you could start doing, or if there is anyone you know who is in need of some support?
Reach out them, and offer your help. I’m sure it would mean so much to them.
– She is not afraid of the future issues that could arise
(Verse 21: She is not afraid of snow for her household, for they are clothed in scarlet)
This woman is literally prepared for any circumstances that arise. She has her family covered. I also see this from a spiritual perspective too. She may not be afraid of the attacks of the enemy, because she knows she covers them in prayer with the blood of Christ.
-She takes pride in her appearance
(Verse 22: Her clothing is fine linen and purple)
Purple was really rich, expensive colour to get back in those days, and linen was a lovely material. It’s clear that the virtuous wife made the effort to dress nicely day to day.
Have a look at your wardrobe and see what you’d want to change about it, if you’re not happy with it already. Change can make a big difference.
– She’s a business woman
(Verse 24: She makes linen garments and sells them)
Again, this wonderful lady works willingly with her hands to build a great, successful business. She’s the lady boss who earns her money to provide for her family.
If its your dream to start a business, start up the business plan now and write down your goals! Commit your plans to God and He will establish them.
– She rejoices at the future
(Verse 25: She shall rejoice at the time to come)
She is sure the future is within God’s hands. So she stays joyful and positive because it’s the Lord who orders her footsteps.
Do not worry about the future, but stay positive and hope in God
– Wisdom and kindness are on her tongue
(Verse 26: She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness)
As we reflect Christ, wisdom and kindness should also be on our tongues. No corrupt word should proceed out of our mouths, but we should aim to conduct ourselves in holiness. Because He who called us is holy.
– Watchman of the household
(Verse 27: She watches over the ways of her household)
She watches over her household physically and spiritually. As believers we are not meant to be ignorant, but be aware of the spiritual realm too. She watches over her house to make sure everything is in order. In every way possible.
– She is God-fearing
(Verse 30: Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised)
The beauty of a God-fearing woman will never fade away, unlike the outer appearance. Beauty is from within the spirit.
I hope this blessed you very much and encouraged you to strive to be the best woman you can be in Christ!!
God bless and take care,
